His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, has hailed the nation’s youth and called them its “hope and treasure”, urging them to take the future into their hands.

On the occasion of International Youth Day, a video was shared on Twitter that has him praising young citizens and highlighting talented citizens, including chief cultural guide Fatma Khalid, robotics engineer Maryam Buhumaid, and Shamma Al Thehli, who secured first place in a Korean speech contest in the UAE.

The tweet, posted in Arabic, translates to, “The youth of the Emirates is the fuel for our renaissance. The youth of the Emirates is the guarantee of our future. The youth of the Emirates are the protectors of our home. Whoever bets on others is a loser. And whoever is firm with them is the winner.”

Inspiring the next generation to take the lead, he says in the minute-long video, that he was “once young, and his dreams did come true”.

Urging the youth not to shy away from putting in efforts, he said that the good days followed only after putting in the hard yards. He urged the youth to remain connected with the country’s history and learn from too.
